A Uruguay duck hunt with Pluma y Aleta consists of high-quality
duck hunting in the mornings and, following a mid-day asado and
rest, decoying pigeon hunts or perdiz hunts during the afternoon.
Your host, Dr. Rafael Varela, or his associate Benjamin Bono,
personally attend to each guest throughout the trip. Rafael
established this excellent Uruguay duck hunt in 1994, has since
ammassed among the most coveted duck hunting and enviable lodging
locations available in the area, and with his dedicated,
highly-capable staff, has made this offering among the very best
Uruguay duck hunts available without question. All other Uruguay
duck hunting operators are a far distant second. With an
astounding repeat hunter rate of 90%, hunting guests agree
entirely!
Perdiz are hunted behind stylish pointing breeds, provide
dramatic flushing opportunities similar to our quail and provide
great afternoon diversion. Vast expanses of low-growing, Uruguay
grasslands are perfect perdiz habitat. Pigeons, primarily
spot-wings and pica zuros, are hunted over decoys placed in nearby
trees; they decoy wonderfully. Our hunters can expect to
shoot several boxes of shells per afternoon. Afternoon duck hunts
are usually slower, but may also be arranged.
Uruguay duck hunts are conducted from well-concealed blinds,
over small potholes with decoys, and provide fast-paced, in your
face shooting opportunities. Bird boys assist throughout each hunt.
Uruguay duck species primarily include speckled, ringed and silver
teal, yellow-billed pintail, Brazilian ducks, white faced tree
ducks and nearly everyone's favorite, rosy bill pochards.
Gear and clothing is not a complicated matter for Uruguay duck
hunting; light waders and field clothing appropriate for
temperatures between 30 and 60 degrees are all that's required.
Bring your favorite wingshooting piece, the custom's
fee is included in your Uruguay duck hunt package.
Our hunting guests are exclusively lodged in the beautifully
authentic Hotel Parque Oceanico. Located about 3 hours from the
Uruguay capital, Montevideo, Hotel Parque Oceanico
(View the accommodations HERE) boasts a sweeping view
of the Atlantic Ocean and manicured gardens; large private rooms
and bath, satellite TV, restaurant and bar, Jacuzzi, heated
swimming and outdoor pools. Continental breakfasts and traditional
cuisine with deliciously strong Italian influence. Chef prepared
meals and desserts, excellent regional wines and excellent staff
attention to service will make your stay an especially enjoyable
one.
Pluma y Aleta provides an excellent Uruguay wingshooting
