Our moose hunting area is
located in the famous Peace River country in northwestern Alberta,
Canada. This is prime habitat is capable of producing trophy-class
moose antlers, and the number of moose in this zone is rated as
plentiful. Access and physical requirements
are relatively easy: there are no swamps to wade
through, no rivers to navigate, no horses to ride.
. These moose are categorized as Canada moose with most bulls
ranging 40 to 50 inches. While some 50-plus inch bulls have been
taken, killing a 35 to 45 inch bull with a rifle is a reasonable
goal at 90% to 100% success rate.
These moose hunt take place in November during post-rut, while
moose are concentrated in feeding areas. Leaves have fallen and
moose are easier to spot in their wintering grounds.
Our hunts take place in
the remote, backcountry in logged cutovers, along secluded lakes,
natural salt licks, cut-lines and beaver dams. Moose prefer these
areas for the solitude, an abundance of food and water. Pickups or
quads are used to access these prime moose hunting areas, and while
hunting methods may include sitting stands and calling,
spot-and-stalk techniques are usually most productive.
Hunt days start at 6:00 a.m. providing an opportunity to see the
northern lights while enjoying a light meal. We will drive to
pre-scouted moose hunting areas and hunt the entire day. Packed
lunch and beverages are taken along each day.
