Northern Alberta Canada Duck Hunting

Northern Alberta Canada Duck Hunts

All-inclusive Alberta Canada duck hunt is the first - and very last - hunt that many mallards ever make!

Located about 5 hours north of Edmonton, this may very well be the Bird Capital of Canada. Here at the junction of the Peace River parkland and dry mixed wood natural regions, several flyways overlap to create tremendous numbers and diveristy of ducks and geese.

A 60 mile radius of Peace County wheat, barley and pea crops is hunted. As this region is among the very first agricultural land - and hunting - many migrating ducks and geese encounter during their south-bound flights, they are naive to decoys and blinds.

This Canada duck hunt package combines 10 years duck guiding experience, good working relationships with area farmers, ideal habitat and inexperienced birds. As you can imagine, it's proven to be a winning combination.

This is an all-inclusive Canada duck hunt package that includes: accommodations at the lodge with overflow at a local B&B with double occupancy, self-serve continental breakfasts each morning, hearty lunches and dinners at the lodge, ground transfers from Peace River, Alberta, airport.  Soft drinks, coffee and sandwiches in the field. Shotgun shells, bird processing, hunting license and waterfowl stamps are also included!

About the Area - Alberta Canada Duck Hunting

peace river alberta.jpgAlberta is located between the province of British Columbia on the west and Saskatchewan on the east, and between the Northwest Territories on the north and the state of Montana on the south.  The fourth largest province of Canada, it covers just over a quarter-million acres.  The rich soils of the Peace River valley in Alberta have been producing wheat crops since the late 19th century, and the narrow corridor that forms this river valley contains the first agricultural forage for migrating waterfowl flying southward from arctic regions.   Wheat and cattle are the traditional mainstays, but Alberta is also the world's second-largest natural gas exporter.  Cereal crops include spring- and fall-seeded wheat, malt and feed barley, oats, rye, and specialty crops such field peas - literally a buffet of high-energy foods for waterfowl.

Alberta is a top waterfowl hunting destination. Alberta's aspen parkland is home to the highest densities of breeding mallards on the continent. The prairies have thousands of acres of staging water with very low hunting pressure.  Numerous flocks of locally raised Canada geese and sharing the Pacific and Central Flyways, Southern Alberta is blessed with millions of migrating Canada's, snow geese and white-fronted geese and ducks of all species.  Alberta Canada goose hunts for large Canada geese is particularly attractive to visiting wingshooters, with many hunts being complimented with wave after wave of mallards and pintails.  All three species of geese with several species of ducks can comprise the bag limit on any single hunt.
